The Internets
Sorry for the lack of updates recently, I was in Huancayo and there was no readily available internet access. I will have a longer update when I can sit with my laptop and not at the hotel lobby computer.

Here are a few from Lima today. You end up spending alot of time in taxis and so I have a bunch of motion blurred pictures from Lima that I think I’ll turn into its own gallery. The truly scary thing about the taxis is doing 60 mph on a 2 lane street that has become three lanes.

Ok, so one of the odder places in Lima, Peru, is the catacombs underneath La Iglesia de San Francisco. The church itself is interesting with a museum housing a collection of catholic artwork from 1620 to about 1790. There is much to see but the real reason for the visit and the $1.40 admission price is the catacombs below the church Read the rest of this entry »
Only in Peru would you find a knockoff apple store complete with “geek bar”. They sell real macs but the price on a last gen 15.4″ MacBook pro with the basic options was 7995 sol or about $2700. They had a loaded 17″ from the last gen that was priced at 15000 sol or $5000. Oh yeah they had a current gen mac pro. 8 gigs ram and 8 core, only $15,000. They had 3g iPhones for about $700. An iPod nano was about $300. Btw they are a “professional reseller” whatever that means. like I said only in Peru.
This is in the jockey plaza mall, which I’m told is the richest of the malls in Lima.
I’m headed to polvos azules, which is the “official” black market in Lima, tomorrow I really want to find a “rollexxx”, yes I want one spelled with three x’s. Maybe if I’m really lucky i’ll find some stolen camera gear to buy. Just kidding but really it will be an adventure.
I am tired, incredibly so. To say that I’m exhausted would be like saying that Hitler was kind of a dick. I am not going to get to sleep probably until midnight central time tonight. Really the only thing keeping me going is the Harlem Shakes, five shots of espresso, and the fear that if I fall asleep I will miss my flight.
Speaking of which, here is a business idea that some one should try: an in airport micro hotel. Something along the lines of the sleep pods that exist in japan. The staff would watch your stuff while you get a couple hours of sleep and they would wake you in time for your flight. At a big international airport you could make a killing.
Anyway, hello from sunny Fort Lauderdale.
So I’m going to Peru on Friday. There will be updates. I will be posting more. Stay tuned.

I think that the title pretty much sums it up.

This is my father. A photographer in his own right, he was the person who showed me how to take a picture when I was a 6 or 7. I tend not to take as many pictures of my family as I probably should.
